The March 4th 2016 International Women’s Day Celebration and Conference, Rapid City, SD - hosted by the Buffalo Gals, is a launch pad to initiate and invigorate a community conversation and collaboration with multiple organizations, corporations, private businesses and dedicated individuals. Participants in this ground-breaking event, inspiredby a slate of speakers, will be called upon to act as a force for change in our community, tackling the issues identified in breakout sessions.

Buffalo Gals of the Black Hills is partnering with local women's organizations, community buisnesses and organizations to host 400 women for the 2016 International Women's Day Celebration "Celebrate Our Legacy".

Celebrate Our Legacy is a community collaboration with women’s organizations and initiatives through the region. The Conference will include a ceremony honoring women veterans, Girl Scouts Women of Distinction Award presentation, nine dynamic speakers addressing our past, present and future, live entertainment by the renowned internationally acclaimed performer Orgena Rose, lunch, dinner and an evening concert, and travel and accommodations to support women traveling from rural areas.

When you get 400 women in a room to connect, to share, to be inspired - something magical happens. This is one you do NOT want to miss!

Over the last 22 years, Girl Scouts—Dakota Horizons has been honoring outstanding women, girls and businesses who have made a difference in your community. These individuals are nominated by their peers and chosen by a selection committee through their accomplishments to receive one of the following awards.

This year, in the spirit of collaboration, we’ve partnered with Buffalo Gals to present our awards at the first ever International Women’s Day Conference on March 4-5 at the Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn in Rapid City, SD. This is your chance to champion women and the talents they bring to the table, continue to show your support for Girl Scouts—Dakota Horizons and keep the welfare of our community top of mind. March 4th is the only verb “march forth” in the calendar. We believe it is time for collaboration and want to make this date an action date!

As we kick off this new year —we are calling on our community to champion women. We are dedicating the mission of championing women as one of our top priorities in 2016 and inviting you to do the same!

What is the Buffalo Gals?

Buffalo Gals emerged in early 2015 from a desire to champion women of grit, guts and grace. Buffalo Gals seeks to shift the conversation about women’s active roles and participation in our local communities. Buffalo Gals believes wholeheartedly it is essential women become committed to our success, creation of networks and communities of practice creating pipelines of healthy opportunities for our daughters, nieces - our future generations. Buffalo Gals holds monthly "Round-ups" on the fourth Tuesday of the month at various locations.
